Trav's new name

As most men do or know, Trav loves Ultimate Fighting. Every Friday night he has to be done with dinner by 8p so he can watch 2-3 hours of Fight Night on Spike TV. To be honest, I have never seen so much blood in a reality show or so many cauliflower ears. Those Minnesotan's may know that our lovely Brock Lesnar (U of M All-American and NCAA-champion wrestler, WWE guy, Vikings practice sqaud cut) is now an ultimate fighter. Anyway, there are all sorts of moves and grips and positions, none of which I truly care about. But when talking with him about our crazy-busy baby this week while he labors away in NYC, he has decided he will refer to her as 'my little grappler.' He thinks that she is not so much punching and kicking around but fighting and grappling in there, with what or who, I have no idea. So now he is excited for her to arrive so he can grapple with her (really that means wrestle, which means heartburn for me)! So if we can't have a boy, Trav will still do boy things with our tomboy. Hospital visits, casts and broken bones are in the Nonn household future, for sure!

My little kickboxer

When we used to live in Port Washington, I took this awesome cardio kickboxing class and loved it so much we got a punching bag (Trav broke it) and then another one, different type (almost indestructable, hopefully, just like Chris'). So last night I was trying to get to sleep when the little one decided to play Aliens and emerge from my stomach, her fist in the air (or so I imagined from seeing this crazy bump stick out of my side). We proceeded to play and she punched and punched and punched for 15 minutes straight. I called Trav (in NY) and he talked to her but couldn't seem to calm her down. I think she eventually got tired and fell asleep, but that was the most fun I have had with her so far! I can't imagine how fun it is going to be once she is out and truly kickboxing with us! Sorry no pics on this, but I am sure you can imagine. On we go....

This is for you, Mom!

I have finally done what my mom asked me to do: take a pic of my burgeoning belly and post it. My belly button hasn't popped yet, that is my belly button ring sticking out in the pic and I am going to do everything in my power to keep it in! My little rebellion against losing my figure. Not that I really wanted to post this pic, but I understand the grandparental need to see this. Plus, since I won't be back to the Cities until March 1st, I figure I owe this to her (and anyone else who wants to see). Caution: Trav doesn't call me 'Whale Lady' (or 'My Little Whale) for nothing!!

Seriously speaking, all is well with our little kicker. We spent the night in the hospital last Tuesday due to a car accident. Can you believe that I wasn't at fault, was driving slow due to weather conditions (snowing), and got hit once in the front on I-94/43 and waited 10 minutes for police only to get hit again in the rear? And, the car (Nebuchadnezzer #2 is what Trav named him years back) is just a bit beat up (but getting a total makeover)!?!?!? I so wanted a new car, err SUV, but alas, I get a Focus until Nebbie is back in shape. Everything checked out OK at the hospital and contractions (Braxton-Hicks) were detected, although I had no idea. Trav had fun sleeping on the hospital couch while I tossed and turned and got a taste for the Labor & Delivery floor. ARGH!
Here's to no more excitement until the baby comes (unless it means the Badger hockey team goes to the Frozen Four or Badger basketball wins the Big Ten Title and/or goes a long way in the NCAA tourney)!!! At least we are doing better than MN in both sports! Let's Go Red!

My Ribs!!!

Our little one has made it to my ribs now. I had no idea how much kicking up there would hurt!!! The back pain has also started, so now I have a wonderful excuse for massages from Trav and professional massages!!

We took our last vacation (of our lives?) the end of January. I met Trav in Vegas for some R and R. He was there for the fantastic (enter loud drums here) 'WORLD OF CONCRETE' trade show. We saw Blue Man Group and Stomp, saw Carmen Elecktra walk the red carpet of a nightclub opening and had lots of rest and good food. Slightly depressing not knowing when our next vacay will be...besides going to Madison and St Paul.

All is going well, though. No new doctor news until the end of February. The baby's room is going very slow due to Trav's travel schedule and the large amounts of snow (snowmobiling) but I am sure that we will get it done before she turns 18!!!
