Our weekend...

...was busy and fun! We traveled to Madison for a baby shower while Trav hid at his dad's shop prettying up his truck (only for it to be rained on this morning!! HA HA). It was a great time, Travis' sister Tanya made some incredible appetizers and we all had fun (pictures forthcoming).

We spent Sunday working on organizing the baby's room more and the office and getting rid of some stuff. Trav still thinks that he can get me to get rid of some of my sports memorbilia (including my two Viking pennants) without success. I think that he should just be happy that I compromised and didn't hang up the Viking pennants and allowed them to be stored! But I suppose he does have a point that I really don't need bars of soap with the Twins emblem on them. But he can't get me to get rid of the Twins Frosted Flakes box from the 1991 World Champion team or the Wheaties 1987 Twins World Champion box or the ten albums of baseball cards! Non-negotiable. You never now, they may pay for the baby's way through college! If people pay $1000 on ebay for a chip that looks like Jesus, they will pay for a Wheaties box that is 20 years old!

In other news, the baby is very comfortable where she is and hasn't moved, up down or otherwise. She is quickly outgrowing her closet already, but I think that is my fault (I love baby clothes on clearance and hand-me-downs!). But, our hospital bag will be packed tonight and our reliable car, Nebby, will be back also today so we'll be ready and waiting for her arrival! 19 days and counting (I guess my due date is 4/19. Whoops, my fault!! =)

I am done!

Finished with the NCAA's. Trav eliminated me when Tenn. lost the other night so I am out mathematically. What a bunch of crap! Of course there was some gloating on his part, but that was to be expected. At least we didn't bet anything, otherwise I would be in trouble =)

Additional sad news, Badger hockey was eliminated from the NCAA tourney last night with a loss to UND in overtime. But, with maternity leave comes Twins baseball, so I am doing alright. I am still in mourning over losing Johan and Torii, but, as my dad says, change is a part of baseball. I already am planning the baby's first trip to see the Twins play at Miller Park (or the hated Metrodome) but have to wait for her grandpa to give her her Twins outfit. Hurry up Grandpa Archie!!!

Stupid NCAA Brackets

I can't believe this! Trav is beating me by 4 wins already and we are only to the Sweet 16! He pulled off two last minute upsets this weekend (Stanford over Marquette and Pitt over MSU) and now I am loosing and may already be beaten! Amateurs! I am about ready to give up and just focus on the Badger's championship run. We'll see how it goes this next weekend!

On a good note, with the 15 inches of snow Friday came good news. At our Dr. appt. we found out the baby is at station -1 but no dilation yet. I am very anxious to start dilating but am happy that she has definitely dropped and is not breech! Although it is very painful, the end is near!! I also read somewhere that with her being at -1 already I may have a shorter labor. PLEASE PRAY FOR THAT!!!

On Wisconsin!

So here is the link to a printable NCAA bracket. I challenge anyone to beat me this year, as I believe this is the year of the Badger (Chinese-Christi Astrology). Trav and I challenge each other every year and for some reason he beats me by a few every year but knows nothing about college basketball. But this year he thinks that he knows a thing or two about the teams so he thinks he is going to win again. Amatuer!

Another Baby Shower =)

My friends in Milwaukee are great. They threw me a great baby shower this past weekend. It was so nice and laid back with awesome BBQ chicken! It is so amazing to me to see the baby clothes and how small and cute! Even the pink ones!!

Anyway, to top off the busy weekend I came down with a wicked cold (thought I had strep at first) and have been sidelined with that for a bit. Irritating to say the least! I had to stay home yesterday cause I couldn't talk or stand up very much without dizziness. So baby and I had a great time at home twisting and kicking and turning around (or she was doing all of this as I was trying to sleep)!

The first picture are my friends Elizabeth (who hosted the event), her daughter Nicole, Sara and Rachel. The second pic are Ronda and Felicia, the third one is self-explanatory (Trav is still trying to pop the balloon every time he gets done working out, all that testosterone, I think!) and the last picture is all of us (Top L-R: Ronda, Felicia, Me, Tenille; Bottom L-R: Emily, Sara, Rachel and Jen).

PS: No we don't have a name yet. This is all Travis' fault. He is picking the name and hasn't decided and recently said that he won't tell me what he decides till she comes. Sorry all, I tried, but he is having a lot of fun with this form of torture for me!

My Poor Car

I was all set to pick up my redone car yesterday. I have had the rental for over 3 weeks now and am sick of it!! Trav and I went to our insurance company to inspect it and drive it home. Interestingly enough, the rear bumper was wrong. Not just painted poorly or scratched slightly, but it was the entirely wrong bumper! Trav noticed this, thankfully, but come on! My bumper has ground effects because it is a sport edition and the one they gave me was for a standard Cavalier. How do you get these things wrong! I don't get it! So here I am with the stupid Ford Focus another few days till Nebbie is ready, again. Will my car ever come home?!?!?!?

On Wisconsin!

This is a sports update from the Badger House:

For those of you who may not be up on the Badgers, yesterday our magnificent basketball team (16-2, 26-4 overall)won the Big Ten conference outright by trouncing Northwestern! Our household is now readying itself for the Big Ten Tourney and March Madness, so excuse us if we don't answer the phone as much, because you probably called while the Badgers are on!

In other saddening news, the Badger hockey team has to travel to St. Cloud State for the WCHA tourney. We were so hoping to have home ice advantage, since we have tickets, but oh well.

Ready for Baby?!?!??

So we have been working on the baby room since now we have some things to put in it. Trav took apart my desk for storage (of course it got hot in there and he had to take his shirt off!! =0)Trav and I set up the crib today and I washed all the baby's clothes and worked on some of her decorations (pictures I am making from scratch). I am absolutely in love with the crib and the mobile! Thank you to my mom for the crib, my friends Erin and Kristen for the crib bedding, and my aunt LuAnn for the mobile. Well done!!

We have lots of work still left to do, but things are coming along well. Not sure if we will get it done in time, but at least she has somewhere to sleep!

A Baby Shower

You wouldn't believe it, but Trav had a good idea! Just kidding! Anyway, he was traveling all week in Manhatten or Orlando or something and got home late Thursday night, just in time to drive me 5 hours to St. Paul the next day. Instead, he cashed in some frequent flyer miles and I flew home for my first baby shower! What a luxury to fly for 45 minutes instead of sit in a car for 6+ hours (frequent potty breaks)!! Thank you T-Nonn!

Anyway, the party was wonderful! My sister Rachel hosted and made some incredible Martha-esque food (four types of finger sandwiches!!! Is this MY sister?) and we all had a blast. It was also great to see my mom so entralled by my growing belly, as she would always stare at it, but the baby wasn't being so cooperative, she only moved at night when I was trying to sleep! I also had a good time with my nephews, as you can see.

The pictures are some gift opening, with the first being a beautiful handmade blanket made by my friend Marla, the second a fun little wagon and fleece blanket from my cousin Gretchen, my friend Erin having fun with a game Rachel concocted, my friend Jen (pregnant with identical twin girls) and myself comparing tummies, and my nephew toting around his brother in the wagon with my friend Beth's daughter, Allie. The last one is a cute one of my nephews.
