Oops, I forgot!

Samara is crying tears now! Not very big news, but she sure looks so sad when she cries that even she has Daddy in her grips! Yesterday I made the mistake of talking on the phone on the other end of the house, thinking that I would hear her when she woke up. NOPE! When I did check on her, crocodile tears were a-flowing for the first time. Needless to say, I was at her beckon call for the next couple hours, feeling sorry that I left her to cry so long!

She also has Daddy's eyelashes, as they are growing in now and are nothing like my short, stubby ones! Watch out boys (Daniel Posselt)!

All Alone!

Samara and I had our first day alone today =(. Daddy came home for lunch, though, and that was a special treat. We ran lots of errands and she had her first taste of the mall to find some preemie clothes because she doesn't have a lot that fit that are warm. Luckily we found some and decided to take our first official family pic (You can't count the one where I am in a hospital gown!).

Our weekend was very busy. Samara had her first visit to a train station when we dropped her auntie Rachel off there. Many thanks to Rachel for helping out for a week!!! We also got to watch some softball practice (Mommy's team was practicing and Mommy was wishing she could join in!). Not much to report, just staying busy and trying to rest up lots!
As far as Daddy goes, he is anxiously awaiting his Rugby game this Saturday. Mommy is crossing her fingers that the weather works out and we can come to cheer Daddy on!

It's wagon time!

Samara had her first ride in her red wagon from my cousin Gretchen today. Trav took her around the house and then revamped the wagon (the flashlight did NOT come with the wagon) and took her around dark rooms. She seemed to have fun until she filled her diaper, then there was no going back from the crying. The other pic is of my sister, Rachel.

We had another appt. today with lactation. Samara gained 4 oz. in 4 days, which is good. She seems to be doing well with sucking, but not with me. We will keep on trying and praying that this will pass. They call her a very 'sleepy' baby! Last night she proved that, with sleeping 3 hours at a time, giving me a chance to rest! She is so wonderful!!

It's Picture Day!

My sister and I had some fun with Samara today taking pictures! I am not one for paying for another to take pics, so we improvised and, I think, got some great shots of Samara at her best: incredibly cute! Look at those lips! Move over Angelina! My favorite is definitely the after-the-bath picture! We also experienced leaving her for the first time, as my sister babysat her for a bit tonight. I only called twice, but I did cry...who knew that would be so hard??

The beige blanket in the background of some of the pics is from my Grandma. It was made for my mom before she was born (I will save her embarassment of when this was). Thank you so much Grandma June!!

Update on our week

Samara finally met her grandma and grandpa and aunt from MN! She sure made an impression and was a hit the entire time. Nothing she did was bad, including pooping and projectile vomiting on her aunt! It was great to have the fam here for the week and even better was going outside on Wednesday to find that Trav had taken an earlier flight from Houston and came home a day early! We have many pictures, but will post a few here so not to overwhelm you all!

On another note, we are still working on the feeding issue. She is gaining and losing and that has been really hard (especially on me), but we are confident that it will work out!

We miss Daddy!

Trav is gone to Houston now and we are sad =( He is calling a lot to check in on his 'girls' and Samara does a good job at grunting to him on the phone. Daddy also came home with a big present for Samara last night: a swing. Needless to say she is loving it right now, and so is mommy! The 'girls' are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Grandma Peg and Grandpa Jerry and Auntie Rachel from St. Paul, due sometime this afternoon.

We had a wonderful morning. Samara had some tummy time and showed that she is strong just like Daddy: She was able to lift her head pretty far and lay down on her other side without struggle or screaming! I took some video but am not sure how to get it online yet. Hopefully that will come!! More later, she is a-screaming, even in her great swing!

Mush, Mush, Mush

So I am of the opinion that as soon as Samara came, I became a mush! Not just the crying when I look at her and am amazed by her, but the whole concept that she is ours and we did nothing to deserve her. Here come the waterworks!

For those who are interested, the breastfeeding is going better. Our lactation consultant is great and she is getting more used to me rather than that dumb bottle. YEAH!!

Anyway, the weekend has been fun. We went for walks, she pooped a lot, had more visitors, and is backward in her schedule. She slept a lot yesterday afternoon-evening and was up, wide awake after her 3am feeding. Oh well. Now I am just trying to finish up some homework for school before Trav leaves. Not much to report on, but here are some more pics. The first one is before her first stroller ride around the neighborhood, next is her activity mat, next is her cool onesie 'Party in my Playpen,' and last is our peaceful little bundle...

We have a Winner!

Samara has taken over! This amazing little girl is the joy of our house. It amazes me how such a beautiful person is produced by two people! We are so incredibly blessed, I can't even describe it! She had her first check-up today and gained an ounce over her birth weight, 7 ounces over her discharge weight and is now 19 1/8 inches. She slept a whopping 4 hours straight on Wed. and three hours last night! YEAH! I am trying desperately to get her on a good schedule, but that isn't working yet. Maybe by this weekend.
She has had some visitors, friends from my work stopped by the hospital and played with her when she was 12 hours old; Grandma and Grandpa Nonn came over on Wednesday to see the new addition, and our neighbors were overjoyed when they met her today! Next week my family comes in to hang out for the week while Trav travels to Houston =( I hope Daddy's girl can survive without him- it sure will be hard for Mommy to!
The pics are my friend Rachel holding her in the hospital, Grandma and Grandpa Nonn with her, Trav posing with her, her first bath (you can see how much she loves it!) and her first photo shoot with Mommy while Daddy was working out. She models very well!!

Sorry, not much time for writing, but here are some pics to pacify you until we get this baby schedule down!

Daddy - Can I Get a Pony?

Well the day has finally come and all the waiting is over. Samara (meaning "Protected by God") Lilly Nonn joined the Nonn family, at a whopping 6 lbs 14 oz at 4:05 am this morning, after what seemed like a long and endless labor. It looks like little "Mara" planned to test the endurance of Mommy and Daddy right from the beginning. Never the less - baby Mara is doing well along with Mommy, and the Nonn family plans on heading back to the estate sometime on Tuesday. P.S. - For those of you who like to call yourselves Vikings fans this will not be one of them (although I don't think very many people would actually admit that they like the Vikings). And if you would like to buy Vikings apparel for the baby that would be great! Because we are going to save everything you give us and have a burning when she is old enough to strike the match! She's a-coming!

So we had another Dr. appt. yesterday and I am dilated to 1 CM, 50% effaced, but she moved back up to -3 station. She has been incredibly busy, kicking and flopping around so much! Trav was amazed that she flips from right to left so often- yesterday she was kicking on the right and now she is kicking on the left. What a busy bee!!

This morning I woke up with some contractions, not too bad at all, but they were coming every 20-30 minutes. So I decided to go to work and see how things go. They are not getting worse or coming any quicker, but other weird pains are happening, so I don't think that I am going to last too long here, especially since it is 30 minutes from home and the 45 from the hospital!!

So be on alert- the grappler may be coming soon!

PS: so Trav had a great idea based on Chris' excellent note-taking of contractions from Meg's labor: he is going to make a computer program with graphs to chart my contractions, intensity and such and bring it to the hospital when it is time. CRAZY!! Too much time on his hands!!

16 days....

...and counting until my official due date. This probably doesn't mean much, since rarely does anyone have their baby on their due date, but an 'end date' is nice to have. Things are becoming more and more uncomfortable and I am becoming more and more irritable. It seems like she is busying herself with taking care of her little house in my tummy, as she is all over the place, moving and twisting and kicking. I was told her movements would calm down a bit since she has less space, but alas, no. Does this mean she will be super active (err, hyperactive), like Daddy, who knows?

I have another Dr. appt. today and, Lord willing, will be dilated/effaced/station 0 or something new, I pray....
